Therapist in Training
Sefa!
Hi, I'm
Hi, my name is Sefa (she/her/them). Born in Ghana and raised in the Charlottesville area of Virginia, my complex identity has allowed me to combine ancestral knowledge with extensive research in the field of human behavior. I have worked with a wide array of populations and diagnoses in my work as a clinician at a community service board to include youth, adults, and groups.
With years of research and practical experience in generational trauma, the immigrant experience and grief support, I utilize a humanistic approach to psychotherapy by combining modalities of DBT, Parts Work, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as the basis of the work we will do together. Described as a “soft place to land” by clients, my approach creates a compassionate space for all individuals to come as they are while becoming the most authentic version of themselves. I’m excited to be on this journey and grow with you!
If you’re interested in setting up services or learning more, please feel free to reach out to me by phone or email.
** Please note that I am an MSW Supervisee in social work! Lenise Mazyck, LCSW is my supervisor for my clinical hours! If you have any questions about what this means, please reach out to us**
