Licensed Therapist & Owner
Does life feel stressful and you can’t figure out where to go or what to do next? Believe me, I know firsthand how that feeling is. It sometimes feels like your feet want to move left but your body wants to move to the right. It can sometimes feel like sleep is never going to come and if it does, it won’t stay for long. Sound familiar? The good news is I’m here for you in this!
Lenise
Hi, I'm
(Lyn-eese)! I grew up in Richmond, Virginia back when it was called the 804! I know firsthand the struggles of having the odds stacked against you, single parent, low income, and a whole lot of responsibility. It has taken a long time to get to the point where I learned how to move through anxiety, depression, Adult ADHD/Neurodivergence, and life changes for people of color.
As a Millennial Black Woman, I have the honor and pleasure of understanding the importance of creating spaces for People of Color. My life’s mission is to create a space that continues something that we all remember- F.U.B.U. (for us, by us). It is important for People of Color to have places that are curated for us by… well us. Enter Roots to Results Counseling,LLC or as well call it, R2R! All of the providers here believe that we have a duty to “lift as we climb”, working through your unique needs with a unique plan!
I started R2R because decolonizing therapy is about more than just being a Person of Color doing this work. It’s about showing up to your sessions as yourself and feeling like “wow this person sees me for who I am” without having to explain yourself, your sexuality, your gender, or anything else about yourself. It’s about knowing your therapist keeps up trends and about not having to hide behind code-switching and masking, especially for those of us that are neurodiverse.
Truthfully, R2R’s belief is that therapy requires a combination of humor, directness, connection, and strength. My work as a therapist and a supervisor for others in this practice is deeply rooted in offering counseling where everyone who comes to us leaves feeling like thry had a talk with their favorite auntie and uncle….. you know the one who helps you but also gives you real life space to be yourself (and sometimes that talking to you didn’t know you needed). I believe in the teachings of the Nap Ministry “Rest is your right, not your reward” I am certified in trauma informed practice, grief, complex trauma, and my favorite, the effects of nutrition on trauma and the brain. My specialties include areas such as: anxiety, depression, Adult ADHD, and life changes for people of color. Here at R2R, We really enjoy building connections with clients based on their own needs where everyone can learn from each other.
We Hope to see you soon!
Light and Love,
Lenise
